Harry Pearce to Judge Prison Art

Harry Pearce has been invited to be a judge for the annual Creating a Future prize, part of an exhibition of art, prose and poetry by inmates from sixteen prisons in the North West of England to be held at The Co-operative Group’s headquarters at New Century House in Manchester from the 13th to the 18th of August 2007.

The exhibition was organised by The Co-operative Group and is aimed at encouraging prisoner rehabilitation by recognising and rewarding their hard work and creativity. All exhibition proceeds are donated to prisoner rehabilitation initiatives.

Pearce, who has also been involved in producing work for a wide range of charitable organisations, as well as working on a new brand identity for The Co-operative Group, said of the exhibition: “For many years, I have worked with numerous human rights organisations. For the last eleven, I have been committed to the Witness program founded by Peter Gabriel and I have seen film and video transform lives. The Creating a Future exhibition is a wonderful initiative. Art must be a great liberator and healer of the imprisoned. The ability of creativity to transform the human spirit is well known.”
