New Work: Design Management Institute

Today the Design Management Institute convenes its annual conference in New York. The DMI helps connect design strategy with business goals, and the theme of this year’s conference (officially DMI Design/Management Annual 36) is “Design at Scale: Building a Rigorous Ecosystem,” or ways to scale design throughout an organization. The conference identity has been developed by Pentagram’s Luke Hayman and team. Set in Foundry Gridnik, the title is designed in perspective and surrounded by tiny figures (illustrated by Bryan Christie), giving it the appearance of being integrated into a landscape. Additional conference taglines are treated in a similar manner.

Pentagram’s Michael Bierut is a featured speaker at the conference, presenting a lecture titled “When Designers Love to Be Managed.” The conference runs through tomorrow at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York.
